How a new account sets up its first workspace, which steps it asks, how company details are proposed, and how invited members only finish the personal steps.
Workspace setup is the short flow a new account completes before it has an organization. It asks who you are, what you do, how you found CentraKit and how you want to hear from us, then creates the workspace with the goals that fit the brand you signed up for.
Setup lives outside any organization, at /setup. It uses the same split layout as sign-in, with a live preview of the workspace on the hero side.

Setup is not the same as employee onboarding. Employee onboarding lives under /{orgSlug}/hiring and brings a new hire into People; see Hiring. Workspace setup creates the organization itself.
The flow has personal steps and organization steps:

Progress comes from the onboarding block. The user checklist workspace-setup-personal holds the personal steps and the organization checklist workspace-setup holds the workspace, goals and invite steps. Completed steps are clickable in the progress dots; later steps are not.
The brand comes from the host, as everywhere else. Each brand has its own job roles, goal options and sometimes an extra question on the workspace step, such as the number of lifts or bays for Mechup or the number of stalls for StableDock. The brand profile lives in packages/foundation/src/brand-onboarding.ts.
A workspace keeps the brand it was created on.
The workspace step starts with one field for a company name, website or Chamber of Commerce number. CentraKit looks the company up and proposes the KVK number, address, VAT number, website and logo. Registry data comes first, because it is authoritative for the name, KVK number and address. The web search and AI extraction fill what is left.
Every proposed field can be changed or cleared, and the logo is only uploaded after you confirm it. The lookup is rate-limited per user and per IP, and it degrades quietly: when a service is unavailable or finds nothing, the fields stay empty and you fill them in yourself. Only the company identifiers you type go to the lookup; no profile data leaves the step.
The number of people and the goals are always your choice.
The preferences step has one toggle, for product update emails, which defaults to off. The choice is stored with the value, when you chose it, the text version you saw and that it came from workspace setup. Change it later under Profile, Communication. See Profile.
/setup and starts at the profile step.You become the owner of the new organization. CentraKit adds the default document templates and VAT rates, sets the country, currency, VAT rate and timezone from the address and the locale, and opens the dashboard.
When you accept an invitation you already belong to an organization. You still finish the personal steps once: profile, role, source and preferences. CentraKit then opens the organization you were invited to, so you never see the workspace, goals or invite steps. Accounts that existed before workspace setup have their personal steps marked as done, so they are not asked again.
After your own setup is finished, /setup/workspace creates another workspace. The step then reads Create a workspace, and Back returns to your organizations instead of the preferences step. Finishing setup needs the workspace, goals and invite steps of that workspace to be done.
Leaving halfway and signing in again resumes at the first unfinished step. When the personal steps are done and you have no organization, setup continues at the workspace step. When the workspace and goals are done but the invite step is not, it continues at the invite step, and a finished setup that was never opened resumes at the done step.
